Welcome

ShowUp ("we," "us," or "our") is a social TV tracking app that helps you track the shows you're watching, save shows you want to watch, and share your viewing life with friends in your Living Rooms. ShowUp is available on the web at showuproom.com and as an iPhone app. This policy covers both.

By using ShowUp you agree to the practices described in this Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app. ShowUp is intended for users 18 years of age and older.

What We Collect

Information you provide directly:

• Email address (used to sign you in and to contact you about your account)
• First name and last initial
• City and state
• Age range and gender
• Career category, hobbies and interests, and household type
• Viewing habits (when you watch, how often, how you discover shows)

Information generated by your use of the app:

• Shows on your Watching, My List and Already Binged lists, and the streaming services you watch them on
• Show ratings (1–5 remotes), favorites, and recommendations you send to friends
• Comments, reactions, Show Talk posts, and Lounge posts and replies
• The Living Rooms you create or join, and the people in them
• Your settings, such as notification preferences and text size
• Notifications we send you (for example, when a show you follow has a new season)
• Bug reports and ideas you send us from Settings, including any screenshot you choose to attach, plus your device type, browser, screen size and the part of the app you were using, so we can fix problems

Technical information:

• Basic device and browser information and IP address, recorded in the standard logs of the services that host ShowUp, used for security and troubleshooting
• Simple usage information, such as how many times you have visited

What Is Visible to Other Users

The following is never visible to other users: your email address, age range, gender, career, hobbies, household type, viewing habits, and anything else you enter on the Tell Us More screen.

The following is visible to the people in the Living Rooms you belong to:

• Your first name and last initial, and your city
• Your Watching, My List and Already Binged show lists
• Your show ratings and favorites
• Comments, Show Talk posts and Lounge posts you write in that room

Some features, such as Prime Time and Full Lineup, show ratings combined across all ShowUp users. These show totals and averages only — never who gave a rating.

How We Use Your Data

We use your data to:

• Operate and improve ShowUp and its features
• Personalize your experience and show recommendations
• Connect you with friends in your Living Rooms
• Send you the notifications you have turned on
• Understand viewing trends across our user base
• Keep ShowUp secure and prevent abuse

Data Sharing and Third Parties

ShowUp may share anonymized and aggregated data with third-party partners including streaming services, advertisers, content producers and market research firms. This means:

• Your name, email, or any personally identifying information is never sold or shared
• Data is combined and anonymized before sharing — no individual user can be identified
• Example of what may be shared: "ShowUp users aged 40–49 who list cooking as a hobby rate prestige dramas an average of 4.2 remotes"

Services that help us run ShowUp. We use a small number of service providers who handle data only to provide their service to us:

• Supabase — stores your account and app data and handles sign-in (supabase.com/privacy)
• Vercel — hosts the ShowUp website
• The Movie Database (TMDB) — provides show information and images. When you search for a show, the search text is sent to TMDB; your account information is not.
• Apple — distributes the iPhone app (including through TestFlight during testing) and, if you allow them, delivers phone notifications

We may also disclose information if required by law.

Data Retention and Deletion

We keep your data for as long as your account is active. You can delete your data at any time from Settings → Delete My Data in the app, or by emailing us. We will remove your personal information within 30 days of a request. Anonymized and aggregated data may be kept indefinitely because it contains no personally identifying information.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access the personal data we hold about you
• Request correction of inaccurate data
• Request deletion of your account and personal data
• Opt out of any future data sharing programs
• Receive a copy of your data in a portable format

California residents have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA). To exercise any of these rights, contact us at the email below.

Children's Privacy

ShowUp is intended for users 18 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that a user is under 18, we will promptly delete their account and data.

Security

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your data, including encrypted connections, secure sign-in and access controls on our database. However, no method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify users of significant changes by posting a notice in the app. Continued use of ShowUp after any changes means you accept the updated policy. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page always shows when changes were last made.
